Kannapolis was built as a mill town: in 1906 J.W. Cannon bought farmland along the old wagon road between Salisbury and Charlotte, and by 1914 the mill there was the world's largest maker of sheets and towels. It still goes by the City of Looms, and today it is also home to the 350-acre North Carolina Research Campus and the historic Gem Theater. On a house with black fascia, the track is color-matched to the trim and sits right in line with it, so in daylight you barely see it. After dark, each light is individually addressable from the app.
