Morrisville grew up around a railroad depot on land Jeremiah Morris gave the North Carolina Railroad in the 1850s, and in April 1865 Morrisville Station saw the last major cavalry fight of Sherman's campaign. Its historic Morrisville Christian Church is on the National Register, and the town is now building a new town center around its oldest buildings. Today it sits among rolling hills between Raleigh and Durham, right beside Research Triangle Park. By day the track looks like this photo: aluminum, color-matched to a black fascia and mounted flush, so it is nearly invisible until the lights come on.
